As a Township of the second class, East Buffalo Township is governed by a three-member Board of Supervisors, one of whom serves as chairman on a rotating basis. Supervisors are elected at large by the electorate for staggered six-year terms and perform both legislative and executive duties for the "health, safety, and welfare" of Township residents. They are required by state law to establish a budget for each year's anticipated expenses and they are given the right to set various taxes to defray those expenses.
To assist them, supervisors are empowered to appoint professionals such as an attorney and an engineer. The Board also appoints all members of the Advisory Boards and Commissions, as well as the Zoning Hearing Board and Municipal Authority.
Meetings:
East Buffalo Township conducts public meetings on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month, with rare modifications to accommodate conflicts, at the East Buffalo Township Administration Building located at 589 Fairground Road.
The first meeting (2nd Monday of each month) is held at 7:30 PM.
The second meeting (4th Monday of each month) is held at 3:00 PM.
Scheduled times are staggered to accommodate availability of the public. Residents are welcome to express opinions at meetings during "Public Comment" time on the agenda, but the Supervisors have the sole responsibility to legislate and conduct Township business.
